If you want a cheaper alternative to these blocks, go to your local
restaurant supply store and ask for a grill brick.  They are the same
material only in a large block (approx 12" x 8").  Just cut with a large
knife to fit your hand size.  The last time I checked they were between $5
and $10.
BTW, they also work great on pulling dead hair out of your dog.
Also note, I usually do this before a bath or good grooming session as these
blocks sometimes leave black dust.
