My Appy has ringbone.  The vet's advice is Bute him and ride him.  Of course
you can't do that in a ride.  However, Pepper is noticably off and could not
pass a pre ride vet check.  As far as I know, ringbone is a form of arthritis
and exercise and movement is good for it.  Pepper loves to go on the trail
still but is not ridden often.  I kind of think that endurance would be a bit
much for him though so I have never explored that possibility.....MB
