Linda

Your story gives me great hope for my part arab Australian Stock Horse
filly, Scandal.

She too suffered horrifice injuries some months ago. She tore off her near
fore arm (amazingly the tendons were not severed but very bad muscle loss)
sliced all the way down her near hind on the back tendon (a very thin
coating left over the tendon sheath) and went blind in her near eye.

Prior to spooking and trying to jump a fence, which was the cause of this,
she was a loving beautiful filly. Since the accident and having to have
needles, drops in her eyes and leg dressings every day for weeks and weeks
she is no longer the friendly filly she was - not by a long shot!

However, repreived from being put down 3 times - by the skin of her teeth -
she became virtually unhandleable - panicing if you went near her - believe
me we were as gentle and patient as possible but she was just in so much
pain I suppose and scared.

In the end we took all the bandages off (after about 7 weeks) and,
seemingly her eyesight had completely returned, I put her out in the back
paddock with my other weanling filly, her half sister Perhaps. Yesterday
was the first time that she has come up to me of her own accord and run her
nose down the back of my leg. I have not tried to touch her but waited for
her to come to me. the legs seem to be healing fine and she has lost none
of her huge floating trot and smooth canter.

I hope someday to be able to compete on her and delight in your achievement
with Iceman. Well done - may Scandal follow in is footsteps!

Sue
