	This is just ridecamp....Banter, you got that right-  This sport has a
very broad spectrum of participants, fans, lurkers and what have you!  It's
a forum for "ideas" related to riding your horse from point to point- (the
"distance" word seems to have gotten tad subjective or late so I'll avoid
it for now) 

GO TO A RIDE! AERC, ECTRA, UMECRA, SEDRA, even NATRC  whatever you can get to.
The atmosphere will not be what you "perceive" here on ridecamp.  Announce
to management that you are a "rookie".  Ask lots of questions.  MOST (not
all) folks will be more that happy to give you their opinion or advice.
Take what you need of it and learn what works for you.  You WILL have FUN!

This Banter thing, on a more local scale, happens around here between the
CTR riders and Pleasure guys.  
On the Pleasure circuit only the "Real Men" ride the long loop (20
miles-CTR guys use these to condition) but more than half of the ride does
the short loop (10 miles).   So is management gonna discourge the short
loopers in favor of the "Real Men".  Hell no! They're paying for the ride!  
All this Banter ....It just comes with the territory.

Just be thankful we've got rides (any rides!) to go to!
