Ramey,
These were eventing horses which tend to have much larger muscle mass than
endurance horses and the results of the study was there didn't seem to be a
problem with ice water over these muscles.
Now would I do it to my horse at an endurance ride? Only if it were an
emergency situtation and the core temp needed to be quickly lowered. In
which case I would not be going on.
