Just as an aside, the world TB record for the mile is 1:32 (and maybe a
few fifths), which puts that full racing gallop for a mile at an average
of aout 40 mph.
Quarter horses cover a quarter mile at an average of just under 50
mph...at top speed they have been clocked pushing 55 mph.
