Leasing agreements
Posting this for a friend.
16 yr. old neighbor who competed as a Jr. for 4 years, but has hit the
'teen thing stage" has a 14 year old gelding, Isaiah, that is gentle as a
dog. She has a lady interested in leasing him for the summer for her
daughter.
Question is, what do you ask for? Do most people charge cash, or just
make the leasee cover horse's maintenance and any vet bills?
I've known a couple of people who leased for maintenance only because it
did their horse good to be ridden. These were "experience rider" type
horses. This horse, on the other hand, is sooo gentle and sweet, they
might be able to charge for his time...how much? This horse is the ideal
Jr. horse, because he has 1500 miles of competition (all 50's except one
100) with only one pull (was sound next day). It's pretty easy to get a
Jr. a sponsor when riding him because he's so predictable and dependable.
So, what do you recommend? Terms? Conditions? Amount of $?
Angie McGhee (Who put the first 500 on Isaiah!)
