Re: young horse
David,
There are a couple of great books out there on the training of young
horses for endurance.
1. America's Long Distance Challenge by Karen Paulo
2. Endurance Riding, From Beginning to Winning by Lew Hollander
3. Training Racehorses in your Backyard. I can't remember the author,
but the book has some good safe ideas in it.
Basically you want to teach the horse some foundation such as ground
manners, reining, trailering and camping. This can all be done without
ever getting on the horse by using the Lyons on Horses methods. But now
we're not talking about endurance related topics and that's getting to
be a real no-no. So if you have and questions feel free to email me to
avoid flaming from the die-hards.
Good luck,
Penny (NM)
