Re: Lets Talk Flexion

There was some studies done and published a few years back that followed many
horses from prepurchase flexion exams through several years of athletic
performances. The studies showed no correlation between passing/failing
flexion tests and the continued soundness of the horse. Just as many failed
flexion then stayed sound as those that passed flexion then became unsound. I
(and my vets) don't completely discount flexion tests, they are just not 100%
(or even 50%) accurate in predicting future unsoundness. They are valuable for
isolating which joint hurts NOW, but are not accurate for predicting FUTURE
problems.
