Sorry, Tom, but I double checked with our parasitologist, and moxidectin (Quest) and any other dewormer
related such as ivermectin has NO efficacy against tapeworms. These drugs must be taken into the parasite
by blood and tapeworms do not suck blood, they merely absorb nutrients from the digestive tract. Also,
maybe this was a typo, but you said that Legend went IM. Legend is hyaluronic acid and it is labelled for IA
(intraarticular) and IV (intravenous) use. For Canadians, the brand name here is Hyonate. The IV dose is
double the IA dose (so $150/dose compared to $70/dose). Adequan is labelled for IA and IM use. I too
support the use of both products in the management of equine joint diseases. The oral supplements... ah, I
remain a skeptic.
