This is a story about my little filly who is growing up!

We had been conditioning my first home bred Ara-App filly, B Jet's
War Eagle, by Eagle El Hilal and out of my foundation Appy mare Moonlight
Jet, for a few months now.
She turned 4 in April, and we started riding her in March. I
guess I'm a little on the nervous mom side, so I have taken it slow and
easy with her. A couple of weeks ago, I decided that she looked great,
and was probably ready for a first 25. Unfortunately the ride was a 35!
Oh well, we could always pull her if she weren't doing well.

She had only trailered 1 mile one way before thursday, so I was a little
nervous about the trailer ride, but she is a very unflappable mare, and
she would have company for the trailer ride over, so I wasn't too worried.
When we got there, she was as good as when she got on the trailer. That
was comforting. She never got nervous, upset, or hyper. Just her usual
attitude about "here we are, OK!!"

I was present when this mare was born. I helped her out, I pulled the
mucous from her face, and I helped her stand up!! Now see why I was a
"little" nervous for her? hehehe.. I should never have worried.

She vetted in with all A's. Her rider Daniel Padgett, had his orders to
ride her steady, but not hard or fast. My friend Sabrina Calvet was
helping them through this, and she knows how to pace, so I felt they were
in capable hands.

Start time, and all was well, no theatrics, no tantrums, and the horse did
great too!:-)

I was working, so didn't have much time to worry about them past the
start, but when I looked up and saw them coming in 10 minutes faster than
I expected....well, that wasn't too bad.

Weagle vetted through with all A's, except for a B on impulsion. That's my
fault for not working her hard on her trot outs at home!! She's getting
better though.

I told them it was ok to pick up the pace on the last loop, but to keep it
to a good steady pace and watch out for bad spots. I wasn't worried in the
least now. She looked great, seemed to be having fun, and the vets said
that she looked great to them!

They came in with tons of time to spare, and surprise!, they even top
tenned!! I was thrilled. Weagle got all A's on her final vet card, and
the vets said it was too bad only the top 5 were eligible for BC, as she
was the best they had seen all day at the finish!! Hooray for my baby..who
is not such a baby anymore.

I was really proud of Daniel, the fellow who has been riding and
conditioning her. He had never done one of these, and he did one heck of a
job with her. HE's done all the conditioning and all the work, and it
looks like it's paying off big for my little girl!!
There were a lot of people that helped her out this weekend, and we got to
visit with some people we hadn't seen in a long time.

Thanks to Susan Milam, who also had her baby in his first ride!, and Carol
Patterson..It was great to see you and visit with you--again--after such a
long time!!! I love to meet ride camp people and be able to now have a
face with a sig!! This ride was great and we had a blast. thanks
everyone!!
