Well, it is just till now that I am capable of any muscular
effort....this a result of having to have my ride fix real bad...desire
overwelming common sense.
My horse having epm, I have not had a horse to condition on for
almost 4 months and rode about 5 times in those 4 mos. if that much but
could not pass a chance to ride Karen Chaton's horse, Dreamweaver at
the Crystal Peak ride last Sat.
First I have to say, it was a fantastic ride put on by Pam Mott.
Beautiful fall weather, not tough but probably a bit over 50 miles.
Jeep roads thru thick forest that would open up to big meadows, one in
particular with a bute as a centerpiece, something out of Monument
Valley. In the backdrop scattered aspen groves in full fall foliage,
springs trickling everwhere. I was ecstatic till after 25 miles my
ankle blew out, a result of not being in shape.
Bless his heart, Weaver who is normally a very competitive horse
would slow on every downhill knowing I was hurting or sensitive to my
poor balance. I was at one point seriously doubting i would make it,
the pain had me light headed. But Weaver got me in!!!! We made it and
as I type this I don't regrett going. I don't think I'd do this again,
not being in shape, for the horse's sake and a big thanks to Karen,
riding Rocky, who has never and will probably never again do a 50 mile
ride in such slow time.
What I want to know Karen, is, I think you were lying or don't know
how far 5 miles is because for the last 25 miles, you kept telling me
just 5 miles to go:)

Linda, who's heart says she 18 but her body says she 100. Also thanks
to her son for lending me his expensive sleeping bag that kept me toasty
at freezing temps.

Weaver, you're the greatest!
