arab vs. 1/2 arab

I have a question that I hope will not sound too stupid, but I would like
to breed my quarterhorse mare to an Arab and have almost convinced my
husband it would be a good breeding. My mare is not the old-style,
shorter-legged, thicker-necked, bulky quarterhorse. She stands 15.2,
weighs about 1050 #, and conformation-wise is built along appendix lines.
Many people have asked me if she has thoroughbred blood, but she is all
quarterhorse. Her back is not overly long though she has a bit steeper
shoulder angle than I would like, not much, but she has excellent legs and
feet and is very sound. She has done 16 competitive trail rides in the
last two years novice, and has placed in the top six horse in all but one.
I think she deserves to reproduce. I have found what I consider will be a
nice stud, Kenlyn Farms' Awesome Knight, Bask bloodlines. My husband is
leaning toward a yes after seeing the stud but now he is wondering whether
we should consider a full-blooded Arab rather than the 1/2 Arab cross. I
would appreciate as much feedback as you could give me about breeding my
mare for an Arab-Quarter cross. Thanks in advance. Betty & Quickly (You
mean I might not have to be a virgin all my life?)
