The great thing about Ridecamp is that I did not feel totally lost or in the
dark at all for my first ride because I've been reading ridecamp posts for
over a year before I actually did it! I really felt prepared! But I did do
the stupid rooky thing, since I've been riding my guy in a sidepull the past
5 months of conditioning I figure heck he is a good boy I will race him in
the sidepull. I actually had a bit in his mouth and took it out a few
minutes before the start. BIG MISTAKE! The horse I train at home, the same
well mannered horse at the starting line and the same horse in a race is a
TOTALLY different animal! He was himself for the first 100 ft of the race
and then he all of a sudden became the most competitive animal I've ever
owned! My arms are about 2ft longer then before the race and I found out I
had muscles that I never knew existed in my arms and hands! Try holding a
horse who dosen't want to be held back for 25 miles and you'll know what I
mean! I completely underestimated him! ROOKIES, DON'T MAKE THIS
MISTAKE!!!!!!!!:} I am very glad I put the amount of conditioning time in on
him so he didn't hurt himself!
My question is I would like to give my horse a body brace bath after the
race when he is still hot and before our last vet check, ya know in the hour
between p&r's and last check. I usually use Tuttles Elixor and I was
wondering if this is legal to do, or will I be breaking some rule? So this
isn't a question about whether this is a good thing to do for my horse,I am
not trying to start a thread on whether or not this is good for my horse or
not. Just whether or not I can legally do this before presenting to the vet
for last check or BC? What's the rule here?
Thanks all!
