Lauren - IMHO any vet that says what you reported your friend's vet to have
said should be sent back to vet school. What does he think horses have
teeth for? Actually, what I think he is seeing, without apparently
realizing it, is that a lot of horses have teeth in such bad condition that
they can't chew properly (i.e., the incisors have grown too long and the
molars no longer meet). These horses are forced to swallow unchewed grass,
which like any unchewed food, leads to colic. Laney
