This same gentle pressure - from the wheat - seems to calm the horses down.

Hi Candy,
I understand the comparison, but have to make a few comments. I am
a one on one aide with an 11 year old autistic boy, and have done a
lot of reading and study on the subject.
First of all, you can't make any generalizations about autistic
children-all are different. A very well known autistic professor
(or the PC way to say it now, is a person with autistic tendencies)<
Temple Grandin, has developed a type of squeeze chute that a person
can use, to CONTROL the amount of pressure on the body. This is a
big difference, because nothing is forced. But not all autistic
children respond to this sort of pressure.
Her studies with livestock have also shown a calming effect from
being in these squeeze chutes.
But the special sounds interesting. Do you remember what it was
titles?
