I've had good luck with feeding grassy second-cutting alfalfa. Stay
away from feeding straight alfalfa in the third or later cuttings.
People who don't know better lose horses every now and then around here
doing that. We call it "rabbit hay"... all leaf and hardly any stem
with protein up over the 20% range. Dairymen love it. Let them have
