We used to put on rides as managers, but because people complained about
them being tough, we don't any more. Yes, on of our rides had a nine hour
winning time but all riders were in well before the maximum time and no
metobolic problems with the horses. Lots of tired peop[le though.
One of the reasons for the faster flatter rides is that if you can mark
trail with a vehicle it is less work for the manager. Easier to pull the
ribbons also.If it is a lot of cross country like ours were then it is real
work.
We prefer the tough rides, that is what this sport is all about. We feel
that if the riders want the easy way out we can provide that option very
easy. Our local race track is a three quarter mile track. The Le Bois 75
would be 100 laps on the track, plenty of water , no bad footing , no hills,
easy access for the pit crews, spectators welcome. Any one interested??But
really that is what it is coming to on some of these rides!
