Snakes and Noses

I was reading an old Trail Blazer article that said most fatalities to
the horse from snakebites are from when they sniff at the snake on the
ground and get bitten in the nose. Then, it swells and shuts off the
air intake.

They suggest carrying two pieces of tubes or hose with you and some
tape or vet wrap when you ride in snake country. If the horse is
bitten in the nose put them in the nostrols and the swelling will soon
keep them in place. It may save their life.

Just thought I would pass this on since people were discussing snakes a
few days ago.
