Isn't the stuff in Strongid C Pyrantel Tartrate? Very similar but
not the same compound? Or is it the other way around?

My vet said the same thing and recommended it for when my older mare
was pregnant last year.

According to my vet the research into Strongid C has shown it to
be extremely effective in reducing colics caused by torsions (twisted colon),
why this is they still don't know but it is such that the company is
suppedly considering indemnifying owners who use Strongid C in a vet
supervised anthelmintic and health program because of it.
Now my problem with the stuff is that I have a young mare who is a
very easy keeper and when she was on Strongid C it became impossible to keep
her from gaining weight on air. Out of necessity I was forced to stop
giving it to her even though she was in excellent glowing health otherwise.
What I think I may do is use it for a couple of months in the peak summer
pest period to limit their exposure and then go back to purge worming at
other times of the year. I haven't discussed this idea with my vet yet.
