New endurance ride in NE proposed

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to get endurance riding re-established in the state of NJ. I
am on the Board of Directors of New Jersey Trail Ride Assn. I am trying
to convince the rest of NJTRA that if we put an endurance ride on here
in NJ that we won't "take a bath" on it by not getting enough entries.

Here are the proposed details so far:

It would be a ride consisting of a 2 day 100 mi. ride and a 1
day 50 mi. ride. The dates I am considering are 7/26 - 7/27/97. It
would be held in the Pine Barrens part of NJ, the Southern portion of
the state. Footing is sandy, fairly flat, well shaded most of the time
by the pine trees. Lots of natural water available; the trail would be
routed so that riders and horses would have access to natural water at
least every 5 mi. The proposed ride site has a natural lake and plenty
of shade. No hook-ups but lots of space.

Anyone who would be interested in a ride such as this please e-mail me
privately at mustangrdr@worldnet.att.net. I need to present this to the
Board of NJTRA this coming Thursday, March 13th and need to be able to
show that we could get entries. An alternate date would be in September
if we cannot generate enough interest in the July dates. But, I need to
get cracking on this if it's going to happen because I require 120 days
to sanction the ride with AERC because it would be new ride. Please
help me make this a reality. If we hold it and if flops, I'll never be
able to convince them to try again. And I want to make this happen as
do a majority of NJTRA members.

Thanks,

Lyn Kamer, C.E.S.M.T., and my Mustangs, the girls: PC and Star
