<< there are just too many that
do it with ease. >>
Just from the perspective of 22 years in various levels of the show ring, I
can tell you that the VAST MAJORITY of Arabians being bred in the US these
days CANNOT do so with ease, either due to a total lack of competence on the
part of the owners/trainers, etc., and more & more frequently, due to the
substandard breeding practices of more and more people with the bucks. We see
it. These horse being bred are sickle-hocked, bench-kneed, club-footed,
long-backed, well, you get th epicture. There is an alarming number of these
hroes being used for breeding, after a halter career, or when they are not
"show quality" So what makes them "breeding quality then"? Money. And if the
sire was a halter champ, oh brother does he get to reproduce like mad, in a
lot of cases to the detriment of the breed. Why does one suppose that there
are so many abandoned and neglected horses needing rescue on a regular basis,
more and more of them Arabians.

Our point is that in ANY case, the most exceptional of feats performed by the
equine athlete becomes one of endurance and all of its necessities, and to
deprecate these horses to show ring rejects is rather putting the saddle
under the horses belly.
