A couple unrelated comments/questions -
1. There is a man who competes and does well in the SW region on an =
Icelandic. The pony is very stocky, but recoveries very well. The breed =
seems to be extremely hardy. His pony got out one night, gorged himself =
on alfalfa (which he'd never had) and competed (with vet approval) the =
next day.
2. Linda (ghostridr) can you send me the address of who you got the =
saddle cover for your SS from?
3. I have had both an OF and now the SS. I love the OF for all reasons =
mentioned before and will use it on the horse that it fits when he =
recovers from a bruised tendon. The SS is used on my curvey backed TB =
mare. I like this saddle as well.I ordered it from Genie who was =
supremely patient with my neverending, probably moronic questions. I'm a =
FW rider (121 lbs) who got the 14.5 since I like a roomy fit. I had the =
stirrups moved back 1/2 inch which I like. The pushed up pommel is =
called a reiner pommel. You could also have it "peaked" for high =
withers. I would recommend doing both these for any horse since it seems =
to allow for more airflow (any suggestions distributers?). I'm using =
this higher, peaked pommel on a normal sized wither horse without any =
problems. The girth that comes with the SS hasn't given me any problems =
yet, but I also haven't be able to get the girth anywhere near snug. It =
just hangs. I got a Skito pad which I adore. I got it for a 15 inch =
saddle though. I like a little overhang. You have to mention whether or =
not you have the reiner pommel or if your saddle is peaked. This will =
help them make it so that there is enough pad to pull up to get good =
clearance and airflow. I found them for a really cheap price, but don't =
know if I can mention where on the list. E-mail me privately I guess.
