EasyBoot studs

Didn't EasyBoot (before it became EasyCare) sell a stud that could be
inserted into the boot? I seem to remember something about it, but it
never seemed important in sandy, warm Florida where I was living at the
time.
Does anyone remember this? Are the studs still around and in use?
