This is complete nonesense. In fact, a goodly number of otherwise sound mares
actually seems to be more focused after foal-bearing. With our mares we have
found this to be true - about 45 mares later! An incidental to this scenario
is our 1975 Fadjur mare, who competed over the last 2 seasons, whilst
teaching over a dozen riding students and also showing - western, English,
gymkhana, show hack,, etc. No, I would say that, with good phyisical care, a
"mom" is as good a competitor as she would have been BEFORE the foal, perhaps
betetr.
