A Happy Story for Diane

Over the weekend I had fun and learned more about my new horse and about
myself. Just got a 3 year old Morab filly and she is so smart and unspooky
that I forget that she is just a baby. On Saturday she was so antsy and would
not stand still while I groomed her. SHe was really agitated and so was I. Our
lunge lesson was not too good- she was distracted and anxious. After it was
over I realized how tense I was feeling and I realized that the entire problem
lies with me. So I gave myself a good talking to - about relaxing and
breathing and how I have lots of time to train this horse and to just maintain
my calmness even when Josie is being a baby. Yesterday we had an entirely
different experience! We both were calm and relaxed (she was only a little bit
antsy a couple of times and I didn't react to it) and she did great on the
lunge where she started to figure out flexing. I saw her brain engage! After
that we went for a stroll in the squishy , muddy, wet woods and even hopped
over a couple of little logs together at a trot-she was perfectly behaved.
This horse is so much fun! Isn't that what it's supposed to be ?-Amy
