I read only the digest so this applies to several "subjects"

On riding through the muddy spots. I have been woking on trails for over
20 years and I always recommend going around mud holes because stepping in
the water displaces the loose soil underneath, thus causing the hole to
get deeper with each step!

To the person(s) who have fear they may lose trails they have been using
for many years. I did some research for an easement problem I had a few
years ago and the law will back you up on continuous use of an area if
continuous passage has been allowed for at least 5 years if no formal
agreement exists. Formally granted easements can and should be passed on
with the deed! Easements can be of many different kinds, public, private,
exclusive use, etc. In most cases the owner of the property must close
the easement at least once every 5 years for the law to work against the
user of the easement.

Your county should be helping you protect those rights!
