Just to add to your "database" on enteroliths...
My husband's horse, Traxxx, died of an enterolith caught where his small
intestine joins the stomach Sat. It was as big as a man's fist. We are
having it analyzed for age and content.

Symptoms? He acted "lazy" at the last ride Oct. 19th. He lost some weight
the last three weeks (poor thing). He was grouchy to girth the last two
days (my daughter, age 9, rode him up to the day before he coliced).
What could we have done? Probably not a ----thing. A time bomb waiting to
go off.
Where does he live? 100 acres..all his life. fed grass hay and alfalfa.
We strongly suspect PERSIMMONS have something to do with this..he was crazy
about persimmons, tho we tried to fence them out.

Traxxx, a homebred, was 6 and going to do his first 50 this month. He had
done several LD rides and was Bruce's "TEVIS HORSE". Some of you may
remember his sire, SAVOY, whom we lost to colic this summer as well. Not a
good year for our ranch!
