Improving gut sounds

I have found that the single most effective product for improving gut sounds
under stressful conditions is ABC's Pro-Bi. I administer 20-30cc the
evening before, the morning of and immediately after the event. I also
administer electrolytes mixed with 10-15cc Pro-Bi at each vet check. Be
sure you mix the Pro-Bi and electrolytes no earlier than the morning of the
ride as this product will ferment in the presence of electrolytes containing
sugars. We use small Nalgene bottles with screw caps, taped with a little
duct tape to prevent leakage.

Pro-Bi is also recommended when you worm, trailer, innoculate, etc.--i.e.
anytime the horse may be subject to a stressful situation.

The TTeam belly lifts are another excellent tool--but you need to practice
them routinely at home, on a daily basis, so that your horse becomes
accustomed to the "feel" and learns to accept it as a relaxing, soothing
exercise. Waiting until race day, then surprising your horse with a strange
sensation, may cause the belly muscles to tighten--not your intended
reaction! Save your little plastic covers from needles and use one to run
along the groove in the midline section--it isn't as sharp as a finger nail
but produces a good result immediately.
