In reading your post to Tracy Ingram, I myself
winced at your comment about bashing on the list.
Steph, I have seen nearly no bashing going on -
the absolute worst (or best?) example I've seen
of bashing since I've been on this list is the
long post from Tracy Ingram. He bashed everyone
on this list who didn't agree with his viewpoint,
AND CONTINUES to be snotty and bash/call names
in each post. The comment about people who look
at this list and stay off of it is purely meanness
I believe. We are discredited as a group...sigh.
i could care less. I have learned more (including
some pretty scientific stuff on physiology,
alkalosis, tying up, electrolytes, research being
conducted, as well as wonderful friendly posts
relating ride experiences, ride results, and just
plain help and advice on an incredibly wide
variety of subjects. I have received much good
personal advice on whether or not I should
attempt to ride a longer distance ride, and
some explanations and reassurances when I had
a problem with thumps.
This group has been a wonderful and friendly
resource for me to experience 100 mile rides
(which I personally don't think I have the
fortitude to do); learn better methods of
conditioning, hear peoples opinions about what
feeds/supplements they do or do not use,
personal comments and critiques on different
products (no, not bashing) available to us.
Well, enough said. Please don't be disheartened
by the comments alluding to the larger body
of AERC members thinking this group is some sort
of rabble rousing troublemakers!
To me, this group is a bunch of friends - some
I do know personally, some I will never meet
in person. But the dialogue is invaluable to me.
