Isn't the use of a product such as Cosequin a long-term type of aid i.e. you
administer it every day during training and there would be no real gain ( or
nominal at best ) to try to use it during the 72 hours prior to the event ?
Does anyone have any test info regarding whether a Cosequin type of product
would be considered performance enhancing if used during the events say as
electrolytes are?
I mean, we get back to the issue of other "supplements" we are using...and I
know we use during the event legal or not, that are beneficial to the horse.
Should they not be a sponsor either?
I believe, as do others, that Rule 13 is extemely poorly written and would
exclude many of the things I have seen this past year being poured into feeds
at vet-checks.
( I keep expecting the feed buckets to start smoking )
I'm sure we could eliminate almost all sponsors if we tried hard enough. I
would remind everyone that Nutramax was a sponsor of the ROC in 1996, I know,
I awarded their product at the event. I never heard anyone question that, not
that that makes it correct.
As a matter of fact, a number of sponsors of the ROC would fall into the
BROAD definitions of rule 13. Personally, I think we should all drop this
issue and pursue a revisement of Rule 13 lest we eliminate a number of
potential sponsors by being too PC.
Thanks for the response.
