DMG

It is my understanding that DMG is used to increase oxygenation in the
blood. I was considering using this supplement on higher elevation rides
where my mares don't pulse down as quickly. If this supplement is not
allowed at AERC sanctioned rides, would it do me any good at all to use
it during training? At the elevations I train at, I don't have problems
pulsing down. My concern about using it during training is that my horses
may develop a 'dependency' of sorts, and taking them off several days
before the actual higher elevation ride may put them into a more severe
state of oxygen depravation?
So, if I don't resort to the use of DMG, how best do I go about training to
prepare my horse for the higher elevation rides? Is my logic sound with
regard to my purpose for the use of DMG?
