Interestingly enough, in the field of aviation there is a provision along
these lines. It is my impression that when an aviation record is set, it
is necessary for the person to remain alive for 24 hours after the flight.
Apparently this was due to one person setting a record, and then, for
whatever reason, dying within hours of landing.

I know that the thought of that requirement crossed my mind when the Voyager
did its round the world flight without refueling a few years ago. The
Voyager landed at Edwards Air Force Base in California (USA) in the morning.
In the afternoon, Jenna (sp?) Yeager went horse back riding on her own horse.
Since it is recognized that horse back riding can be dangerous, the thought
did cross my mind that had an unfortunate event occurred, would that have
deprived her and her fellow crew member of the record.

Enough for now
