The budget for the event is in excess of $60,000. Lower than in years past
because the FEI has started to loosen up on some of its requirements in
response to concerns about rising costs. This budget does not include prizes.
The largest line items (per FEI requirements) are costs related to air and
ground transportation and lodging for officials. In addition two banquet
meals for 80+ riders and their grooms must be budgeted for. The event has been
given Pan American status to recognize South America's wish to compete. All
the elements Nutramax is looking for are provided in an event that has proven
to best prepare our nation's riders to represent the United States at the
World Championships (in Ireland next year at the Nissan World Equestrian
Games).
I am afraid a first year pseudo ROC doesn't offer as much prestige or as big
a bang for the advertising buck as an established World Class event like the
FEI North American Championships that does not need money prizes to attract
entrants.
