Gelatin vs 'flex' products

I have been told that unflavored gelatin contains the same substances that are
in products like Flex-free, Cosequin etc. Of course they would be in a more
dilute concentration but has anyone who has access to an analytical lab
looked into this? Unflavored gelatin at 2 packages a day still costs a lot
less than the commercial products. Thanks-Amy
