Turns out this ride has not ahd sanctioning approval yet and must be voted
on
by YOUR directors!!! Our director was NOT aware of the money offered. I
don't know if AERC is aware.

Let your thoughts be heard!!! Tell YOUR directors what you think!!! In
fact, maybe you would like to tell Nutramax, the manufacturers of Cosequin,
that your not NOT condone $$$ for prizes.

This ride must have AERC approval for sanctioning regardless of money
because
is requires horses to qualify to enter.

LET YOUR DIRECTORS KNOW NOW!!!
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm letting Brad Patterson know how we feel. I'll take him all the posts I
have. However, I think there are some early ones missing that I did not
get over the past couple days. (One of our computer systems was down. I
think it held the E-mail).

I'm sure Brad will let Dean Jackson know. I'll also tell Susan Schomberg,
she's a new at-large director.

AND, below is the letter I'm faxing to COSEQUIN.

RE: Proposed Cosequin Challenge Endurance Ride

First, let me say that I choose NOT to use your product Cosequin. And, now
I am certain my decision not to do so is correct. You see, the reason I do
not is there are a few high quality products on the market which are
similar to yours which are MUCH less expensive.

Furthermore, since your company does sell your product at such a high price,
it has promotional money to contribute $30,000 in CASH prizes to the
proposed Cosequin Challenge to be held in Virginia on Memorial Day. In my
opinion, the awarding of cash prizes is not good for the sport of Endurance
Riding. It will cause the "professionalization" of one of the last truly
amateur sports. It will also promote the attitude of treating the horse as
an expendable item, because many over-zealous competitors will be attracted
to our sport if cash prizes are encouraged.

If Nutramax Laboratories would truly like to help the sport of Endurance
Riding, the $30,000 would be best used if contributed to our sanctioning
body the American Endurance Ride Conference, 701 High Street, Suite 203,
Auburn, CA 95603.

Respectfully yours,
