Arab crossed with ???

Hi there! This is my first post to this group in a couple years as I was off
the list due to no net access. Hi to all of you! I just wanted to say that
the P&R thread is wonderful for those of us who have not actually done any
endurance/distance rides yet but want to train for it. Also, I second the
motion that ride tips and such be posted right to the group. Some of the
things you might take for granted are unknown to us beginners and it's
easier/nicer to learn things here than out on the trail in some cases I'm sure.

In any event... I have a 5 year old arab mare who I hope to ride in some
distance events (I am not competitive but I would like to participate just
for the fun and personal achievement). I want to breed her (which will hold
off on events, I'm sure) and am looking for advice on possible breeds to
cross her with. I do want to get away from some arab traits (most bad ones
she does not have) and possibly add some height and make a good all-around
horse not geared for anything specific like jumping or endurance or
what-have-you. I was considering a paint stallian which is full quarter
horse but I'd like to hear any ideas/warning/suggestions any of you might
have. I know all sorts of horses have been used for endurance rides, so I
figure a half-arab won't be too impossible for that. Is there is so much
variation across single breeds that it won't matter too much as long as I
find a good stallion or do breed-to-breed variations really make the difference?

Thanks for any help you can give me!
