Mary has a book out now called " Riding with your mind"
She has the best way of explaining which muscles of the body
to use and how to use them.
Following her techniques your weight goes down your knee not
on your feet. Similar to Sally Swifts' stubby leg but
Mary explains it better I think. you are balanced and
secure on your horse with no weight on your feet. Thus
no sore feet.
About check ligament surgery as Mike Maul was asking.
I had a colt born in 1984. He developed a club foot
and had the check ligament surgery at 5 months.
It caused his foot to match the normal foot and he has never
been lame.
I did some comp rides with him but he lacks lung capacity
so can not recover fast enough so is no distance horse.
He has been trail ridden extensively all his life and has never
been lame. Without the surgery he would have been a cripple.
