What with crappy Ohio weather and school being in Columbus (with Star an
hour and a half away at Mom's house), Star usually gets November through
April off. He will get ridden some weekends -bareback- if the weather and
school cooperates but that rarely seems to happen. He certainly doesn't
mind a vacation and at his age (15) and experience (10 years) it doesn't
hurt him at all. Of course, we don't do one day 100s. His suspensories
can get a bit sore by the end of a season but after a long winter (like
this one) he is as fit as a fiddle (leg-wise, at least). Unfortunately,
this pushes my ride season back to late june, eary july, but around here
its too muddy to do much before that anyway - even if I could afford more
ride entries. Since he has such a solid base, it really doesn't take long
to get him ready for a 30 or 40 miler, which is the first ride I do, then
it's 50s til October. I can't believe some of you are almost done with
your ride seasons! I haven't even pulled my saddle out of winter storage
yet!
If anyone still wants the Fat in Diet chapter, I can forward it to you.
Quarkie is still for sale. She went to the Regional Pony Club Games Rally
last weekend and her team was first! Everyone was amazed at how obedient
the Arab was! She did pace in her stall though - too many strange goings
on, I guess, because she has been really good in her stall at home.
