They make pads called "Sissy pads" (no offense, that's what they are
called) to slip on the shoulders.
I found them in my husbands Bike Nashbar catalog. The part number is
CS-SP @ $12.95 a set, 1-800-627-4227. I'm sure any local bike store
can obtain them for you too, if they don't already stock them. They
also sell a nutribiotic liquid to keep your reservoir from getting
yucky, and it doesn't have a nasty taste. #nv-cc @ $9.95.
My husband also uses a camelbak that it is a combo pack &
water bladder. He can carry just about anything he needs, as well
as tie his jacket to it, and he says he isn't bothered by any added
heat. My husband is the biggest sceptic, hates anything trendy, is
a competitive mountain biker, and a design engineer, he swears by
his camelbak!
I have not been riding the mile yet to warrant the need for one, but
intend to give it a try soon. Fanny packs never fit me properly and
I can't stand them - I think the camelbak will be a great
alternative for me.
Jennifer Layman - thank god my husband is out mountain biking so I
Palo Alto, CA can ride my horse without feeling guilty!
