My new portable corral from Dick Hanson Fencing gets high marks after a trial
run at Pt. Reyes this weekend.

Plusses:

*Extremely easy and fast setup; could be done by one person
*Panels travel well on mounting brackets--no noticeable bouncing or shifting
*Mounting brackets are removable so there are no protrusions along the side
of the trailer
*Steel is galvanized inside and out for rust protection

Minuses:

*Height (44") a little shy of comfortable--wouldn't want to use with a tall
TB!
*Gate latch awkward to use, so we just held it shut with a bungee

Dick is located in Salinas, Calif., phone (800) 847-7037. Cost for 6 panels
(75" wide) is $395. He will install brackets and trailer attachments for an
additional $75.

Thanks to Suzanne and Natalie, the soon-to-be endurance Morgan, and Kimberly
and Mystery, the about-to-be endurance Morab, for sharing this first-time
campout for all our ponies. Chaco, the Arab, has bounced back from his
January bout with erlichiosis, leading the threesome over 16.5 miles of
gorgeous trails out to Wildcat Beach and back. Next group ride for Natalie
and Chaco: The Western States Trail Foundation "Fun Ride" Apr. 28.
