My Arab gelding, Countach, interfers occasionally and we (my shoer and I)
have gone through quite a few things to correct it. Please, be careful with
weighted shoes. If they are not used properly, you can cause more trouble
than you have now. I don't claim to be an expert on this topic. I can just
relate what I've gone through.

The first question I'd ask is, have you evaluated your horse's legs? My
gelding's right front leg is slightly crooked and he's a little splay footed.
Put these two together and you get interference sometimes. We've been able
to (usually) correct it with putting him at a particular angle and using a
St. Croix shoe that's lightweight.

One thing I've noticed is that if I let Countach's feet get too long, the
ground's uneven or he's tired, he will lapse back into it. But, as I'm sure
you've experienced, sometimes there's no magic formula. It's ALOT of trial
and error.

My understanding of the weighted shoes (at least in our case) is that they
would probably make Countach break unnaturally and could possibly create
serious stress on his tendons.

One other thing that helps immensely is that instead of using regular splint
boots, I use Professional's Choice Sports Medicine Boots. They are a little
pricier than the basic splints but well worth the cost.

That's my .02, for what's it worth. Hope it helps! Good luck!
