I have noticed that many of the people responding to my original post are
lecturing me on confirmation, diet, etc... I do not believe you have
caught the intent of my post. I meant that if all other things are equal -
confirmation, way-of-going and so forth - would you choose a grey or a
dark. I must admit I am slightly prejudice against greys for the reasons
noted previously and if all others were equal, I would choose a dark horse.
However, if the grey was a superior horse, I would take her. Quark is an
example of this. I went to look at her and her full sister, a lovely blood
bay, but I felt Quark's legs were better. So, I now own a grey, despite my
prejudices. I am very careful to keep her out of the sun and watch for
lumps and bumps. Any tumor, benign or not is something I wish to avoid,
and sun makes it worse.
Anyway, all I wanted to know was you all's "prejudices." All things equal,
grey or dark?
Shannon Loomis and Quail Meadow Star (and Quark, the grey emergency back-up
Arab)
PS Quarkie got scratches worse on her front than back. Star has never
ever gotten scratches, even on his three white feet. I think that is more
due to his thicker Morgan hide versus her tender Arab ankles.
PPS Thanks for the complement, Jude. I think Quark would have behaved
herself better if they had been a bit calmer with her... Oh well, we just
brought her, 'cause we needed an Arab.
