When a company donates to a ride whether it be product or cash it is =
their advertising dollar. 
Take time to write a thank you note to the donor. It only takes a minute

You have a good point.  One ride I went to - the RM provided letters
to the sponsors that you could sign and mail - included them in the ride
packet.

I'm sorry to say that was the only time I've done as you suggested but
we should all 
take the time to do it.
