I agree with your points completely, especially about outcrossing breeds
giving more vigor. That is one reason I like to ride half arabs.
I don't think that, until your post, that this thread made a sufficient
distinction between horses large for a breed, and horses more like the
average for a breed.
I really have no idea long it takes various breeds to mature, but it
bothers me to see young QH, TB, and other large breeds receiving high
calorie diets as weanlings to 4 yr olds and ridden hard before 5. That is
just asking for them to break down.
