[RC] Horse needs a home - Hickory Ridge Arabians
Forwarding for a friend:
Hi,
My name is Amber Carroll. I am a representative for the CHAPS
therapeutic riding center in Lafayette, IN. We have a horse that I am
trying to find a home for because we had too many horses donated this
year. We don't have the facility or money needed to keep the extra
horses through the winter. Since we are a not-for-profit
organization, we cannot afford to pay board to keep the horse
somewhere else. You see, I have two weeks to find Peppy a home before
he gets sent to the auction block. I think two weeks is a harsh
deadline, but I'm determined to find him a home. I was hoping that if
I tell you about Peppy, you might know someone who would be
interested in buying him.
Peppy (Peppy Synbageneous) is an 18 year old sorrel half-Egyptian,
half-Polish Arabian gelding. He is out of YF Gorgeous C and is by YF
General G. He stands right at 15 hands and is completely sound.
Peppy's previousowner didn't deal well his Arabian tendency to be hot
under the saddle. He tried to keep Peppy as a trail horse riding
about once a week, but couldn't keep him from taking off when other
horses passed at a trot or canter. He kept Peppy for several years
before recently buying a younger, calmer quarter horse that would
offer him no great challenge on the trails. We have had Peppy for
just a few months, but already he is showing great potential. He
learned to longe for the first time last week, and it only took him 5
minutes to figure it out. He does well in both English and Western
disciplines. He works well under saddle in the arena as long as he
has a calm, confident rider. He is quite fast under saddle, and the
rider has to remind him to keep calm and bring his speed down
regularly, but I think he will be able to grow out of this in time. I
haven't tried jumping him yet, but I think he would be willing to
become a jumper with the right rider on him. He has excellent
stall and leading manners. Peppy still loves the trails, but we are
trying to teach him how to behave better off the trail before
returning him to it.
Peppy is great with the kids in the stall, but the handicapped kids
at CHAPS just can't ride him alone. He does do well with pony rides
if he is on a lead rope. All the same, he is just not going to work
for our program. That is why we are looking for a home for him. The
other option is the kill block at an auction. We don't want to see
that happen. We are hoping for $1000 for Peppy, but we will go lower
as long as the price remains above auction prices.
If you are interested or know someone else who is, please email me. I
can get you photos and more detailed blood lines upon request. Thanks
so much for you time.
Amber Carroll
