Re: [RC] endurance@moscow.com ? - Magnumsmom
I was here. Thanks for the list Steph! I remember when
you posted the idea on rec.equestrian. I was part of
the derby list back then too (TB horseracing + professional
handicappers). It was 10 derby posts to every moscow post.
Now ridecamp outnumbers the derby posts 10 to 1.
I met several of my good endurance friends on moscow.com.
We even had an endurance-west SF Bay Area lunch group that
got together now and then all off of the internet. I had
an @ button, but I lost it. However, at Magnum's first 30
at the Fireworks 1995 (?) ride, I met into John Parke who
was riding Remmington on his first 30 as well. He had put
an @ on Remmington's butt (on the top so us on taller horses
could see it!) I do have my @ bandana though.
Back then I was just ":) - kat", but after Kat Swiggart
joined and there were too many confusions, I reliquished
the "kat" signature. I remember someone named Karen Chaton
who was interested in starting in on endurance riding and
wondered if a short fat arabian (named Dreamweaver) could
do it... or would she need another horse? Karen, I think
you need 7 horses... one for each day of the week. ;-)
Thanks Steph for putting together such a great source for
information, discussions, and contacts. I relied heavily
on Ridecamp in finding my farrier, hay supplies, and other
stuff making the move from California to Santa Fe, NM last
year.
