[RC] re: helmets and friends - Cindy Collins
I couldn't resist this thread...I have cracked two helmets on rides. One
at Death Valley and one at Halloween Horror. I have lots of broken bones
and none of them were caused by mean or wild horses...just **** happens
kinds of wrecks when you are going fast cross country. I, too, resisted
helmets for years, but now I freak out when I get on a horse and realize I
don't have one on. I, too, have a very dear friend who means so much to
me and she just won't wear a helmet. I even gave her a very nice Troxel
Gold. This weekend she was bucked off her horse at a ride and took a
terrible fall. Although she was hurt, she didn't happen to hit her VERY
HARD head. If she had, I would have been over-wrought with guilt thinking
there was some argument that I could have used to get her to wear one and
failed to do so. I really don't think that people realize how much it
upsets the people who love them when they refuse to take such a simple and
painless safety measure. Cindy
