Re: [RC] Off to Tennessee?? - Rides 2 Far

Must admit, I've lived in Chattanooga all my life and haven't been
through that one (but drive by it often) >g< So...did you catch The
Knife Museum? (It's across town by the huge mall) Haven't been there
either. Any Civil War nuts? The Chickamauga Battlefield is about 10
miles down the road and has a full museum. You can ride the Incline
Railway (a trolly type car that climbs tracks *straight up* (90 degree
angle!) the side of Lookout Mtn. Point Park is the military park for the
Battle Above the Clouds and has great views. Rock City is ....O.K. I
guess, *very* touristy. Ruby Falls sucks (to quote my students and
everyone else who makes the mistake to go in that place) It's nothing but
a dynomited (no formations to speak of a couple that were shipped in from
other states) tunnel a mile long with a glorified bathtub trickle at the
end, pumped of course. If you wanna see a gorgeous cave there's one 5
miles down the road called Raccoon Mtn. Caverns that is stunning. We've
got the daughters of 2 endurance riders working there as guides so if
anybody's interested I'll see if we can get discounts. They've got a
wild cave tour that involves full gear, crawling & mud or the 1/2 mile
loop (all checks in camp>g<) that is as pretty a cave as there is
anywhere.
Wow, this is making me like home better. :-)
