Correct. Currently the rule reads:
11.2
Special event rides are series of rides on consecutive days, totaling more than
three days or 150 miles. Special Qualification rides are rides with entry
qualifications other than those contained in rule #3. Special event and special
qualification rides shall require approval of the AERC Board of Directors for
sanction for the first two years.
I've
heard several reasons for wanting to change it to include 3-day (150
mile) rides as special events, including consistency between Pioneer points
and special event rides, but I am personally (my opinion only) not in favor of
the proposed rule change - for many other reasons. I'd leave it the way it is.

I just looked in the
book, it says MORE than 3 days are special event. The way I understand the
proposed change is that it would make 3 day rides special events and subject
to board approval. Thus my objection to that change. Rite, Steph???

Uh, when did this change to being in the purvey of the
regional sanctioning director? If memory serves (and granted I'm
not going back and looking this up), three-day rides have traditionally
been special events like longer multi-days, and have always been under
the jurisdiction of the special sanctioning director--which included
board approval for the first two
years.... Heidi
